Is it ADHD, or is something else going on?

You can care deeply about your responsibilities and still struggle to get things done. You can do well in school or at work while feeling completely overwhelmed behind the scenes. For children, ADHD can look like constant movement, difficulty following instructions, or emotional frustration. For adults, it can show up as procrastination, disorganization, mental restlessness, or years of feeling like you have to work twice as hard to keep up.

An ADHD evaluation helps determine whether ADHD is part of what’s happening and what kind of support makes sense.

What Is ADHD Testing?

ADHD testing is a clinical evaluation that looks at attention, executive functioning, behavior, emotional regulation, and how these patterns affect everyday life. At Prismatic Psychiatry, testing involves clinical interviews, questionnaires, developmental history, and a review of factors that can overlap with ADHD, including anxiety, trauma, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. It’s not about passing a test or proving you have ADHD. It’s about getting an accurate understanding of your experiences.

Children & Teens (Ages 5–17)

Your child may be bright, curious, and capable but still have a hard time with schoolwork, transitions, or managing emotions.

ADHD isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s completely normal to have questions about what you’re experiencing or noticing in your child. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. We’re here to listen, answer your questions, and help you decide if an ADHD evaluation is the right next step.

What Can an ADHD Evaluation Help With?

Getting answers is just the beginning. Understanding how your brain (or your child’s brain) works can open the door to more confidence, less frustration, and support that actually makes sense for you or your child.

Finally get some answers about why certain things feel harder than they should. Discover what’s behind those everyday struggles and start recognizing strengths that may have been overlooked.
Imagine less stress around unfinished homework, missed deadlines, or getting out the door on time. An evaluation can help you find strategies that work with your brain instead of constantly fighting against it.
Stop guessing what might help. Get personalized recommendations so you can make informed decisions about treatment, daily routines, and the kind of support that fits your life.
Everyone deserves a chance to do their best. An evaluation can help identify changes that could make learning, working, and managing responsibilities easier, including accommodations when appropriate.
