You might have spent years trying to understand why social interactions feel exhausting, why certain environments are overwhelming, or why changes in routine affect you more than other people seem to understand. For parents, it may be noticing that your child experiences communication, sensory, or emotional differences that aren’t fully explained by what you’ve been told. These experiences don’t automatically mean someone is autistic. But they are worth understanding.
An autism evaluation provides space to explore these patterns with a clinician who understands neurodivergence beyond the usual assumptions.

Differences in communication or social interaction

Difficulty navigating friendships or group activities

Strong sensory responses to sounds, textures, or environments

Distress around unexpected changes or transitions

Shutdowns, meltdowns, or overwhelm

Intense interests or a strong preference for familiar routines
Our evaluations consider your child’s development, strengths, experiences, and support needs, with caregiver involvement throughout the process.

Exhaustion after social interactions

Masking or rehearsing conversations to fit in

Sensory overload in everyday environments

A strong need for routines and predictability

Feeling misunderstood in relationships or at work

Shutdowns or burnout after prolonged demands
Discover what helps you or your child thrive. An evaluation can guide recommendations for school, work, and everyday life, helping you advocate for the right support and create opportunities to succeed on your own terms.
At Prismatic Psychiatry, we believe you deserve to be understood for who you are, not how well you fit someone else’s idea of autism. Our team takes the time to understand your experiences, including the things others may have overlooked. Whether you’ve spent years hiding your struggles, have always felt a little different, or are looking for answers for your child, we look at the bigger picture.
We’re a neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQIA+-affirming practice where you can feel comfortable being yourself. You don’t need to force eye contact, hide your sensory needs, or communicate a certain way to be taken seriously. What makes our approach different? We focus on understanding the whole person, not just checking boxes. Our goal is to help you walk away with meaningful answers, a better understanding of your strengths and needs, and a clearer path forward.
We discuss current concerns, developmental and mental health history, previous experiences with care, and what you hope to learn from the evaluation.
